Now as far as RPGs go, it's true they lack a bit... but they have great titles Mario&Luigi, Earthbound, Paper Mario, Fire Emblem. This won't satisfy an RPG fanatic, but it'll satisfy players that like a varied experience.... It's hard to find a genre that is not covered by Nintendo and with a high quality game at that.

I'm sorry I owned GameCube and Nintendo gave GameCube way more hardcore support then they are giving Wii. GameCube was a hardcore console and Nintendo was able to be profitable because of their hardcore titles. Nintendo stated they could launch Wii with only first party software and still be successful. And they could have had they kept their hardcore focus.

But Nintendo has all but abandoned the hardcore and without that base the Wii would never have gotten off the ground. It's Nintendo's fanbase that spreads the word. Nintendo's fanbase that sells the software and Nintendo's fanbase that makes Nintendo successful.

If Nintendo only released the megre line-ups they are right now they could not have survived this generation. They would need to increase their levels of software and released far more titles. Keep in mind Nintendo now only launches half a dozen first party titles a year. I remember on GameCube I bought one new first party title every month. This generation I've bought 7 first party titles when compared to the 35 I owned on GameCube!

Thats right I owned 35 first party games on GameCube and only 7 on Wii. Nintendo just isn't giving Wii the first party support they gave GameCube. Heck if it wasn't for the virtual console I wouldn't even be touching my Wii, with the exception of the Conduit (A third party title).

I don't mean to offend, but you're just being ignorant if you think Nintendo has only released seven great first-party games this generation.

And that's just disc-based games off the top of my head.  They've also got plenty of great first-party WiiWare stuff, including the Art Style series and Dr. Mario.

 

Besides, you're comparing the Gamecube's entire life span to only part of the Wii's.  Upcoming stuff that we know about:
