I think they've been studying and waiting for the right direction to emerge before plunging into a completely new project of their own.

After Rare licensed the Donkey Kong trilogy they licensed Goldeneye, so I'm expecting Retro to end up with a franchise totally different from Metroid, perhaps owned by another company. Maybe that's why they've been mingling so much, helping other teams and remaking games. Who knows?

Maybe we'll see a teaser soon, but I don't think it's gonna be anywhere near done. Just because Corruption came out two years ago does not necessarily mean a new game has been in development.
