Nintendo knows as well as anyone that HD adoption has been pretty slow. And most of those with new big screens are buying them to watch their DVDs. Yes the watch HDTV but that is not why they bought the TV. Those movies run at 480p just like the Wii.
As far as a hard drive, if and when Nintendo finds use for extra storage for gaming, they can do one or both of the following. Update Wii firmware and allow games to be played from SD cards. Boom everyone who wants can pick up unlimited storage in 2 gigs at a time. Second they allow USB hard support. Surprise, surprise the Wii was built with hard drive support.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
