Nintendo - C+ is a 58?? - View Post

One thing i can say having looked at this thread is that people can't agree with each other as to what a C+ is and no one seems to agree with my idea and experience.

At my school C- represented the limit of a passing grade which was generally 50% with a C+ usally being in the mid to high 60's.

In my first stint at Uni scoring was about the same as this but a C- might have included a grade in the high 40's. Getting an A on on the other hand was almost impossible and was often only given to 1-2% of students.

In my second stint at Uni we were given pass/fail only but the passing grade was set anywhere from 60-90% depending on the exam.

In the end i don't think we can get too angry at Metacritic for setting a C+ at 58% because it is different everywhere. We can however question the validity of assigning a numerical value to a graded score given the broad range of what a C+ means to different people in different places.
