My guess is it could hold more than that, though I would not test it for fear of breaking it. There has to be some sort of limit, as the thing can't be indestructable. People typically don't like limitations though, and so if the thing can hold, say 400 pounds, and you say no one over 300; odds are none will break it and have to be turned in or repaired.
