It was an amazing system... in some ways. But it completely bombed in others. Mainly, in that it utterly failed against the Playstation. Which is sad when you consider that the playstation was supposed to be a Nintendo system.
As for Zelda. Yup, one of the greatest games of all time. Damnation it was an amazing game. And while it made for a big sales boost. It wasn't enough to breathe new life into the system. The N64 still sold less than the Saturn in Japan.
