I haven't given up on Nintendo. Like others, I was raised on Nintendo systems: NES, GB, SNES, N64. For the first time ever, I went all of last generation without a nintendo system (excluding a short and frustrating bit with an original gba). I bought a gamecube a little while ago, and quickly realized how much I missed Nintendo's games. They really offer a lot software wise on all their systems. Even though the ps2 had an extremely good library last gen, I can now see how someone would be satisfied with only a gamecube, and especially how I missed out on some gems by only owning the dominant system.

DS lites have been on sale for under $100 recently, and that really tempted me to pick one of those up. As far as the Wii goes, well, I have no interest in buying one for anywhere near $250. My gamecube was purchased for $25 with a game, and considering I'm still working through that library, I don't mind waiting a while to acquire one cheaply. It'll be like having a gamecube all over again, with an avalanche of exclusives to pick and choose from.
