in sales? I doubt it - D/P is the first to surpass its predessecor (> R/S in sales) But the original Gold/Silver sold over 23 million, I mean it has an outside shot but it needs to catch on even more than Diamond & Pearl and just for the simple fact that it is a remake I don't think it will. I'm willing to bet it eventually outsells the FR/LG remakes.

Wasn't talking about the sales. Topping the games back when Pokemon was at its peak with popularity would be near impossible.

Okay IC, then you mean surpass as in content? or gameplay? or how much fun they are? because these are really subjective, there are some people who hated the FR/LG remakes even though they are in just about every way superior to R/G/B, because they liked the originals so much and the same will happen here - luckily though it looks like they are putting a lot into these remakes (arguably a ton more than the FR/LG ones) and I think they will surpass the originals in terms of how fun they are (and I say this with Silver as my all time favorite Pokemon game)
