Are you sure you aren't thinking of Yoshi's Story? (which admittedly has some pretty fervent supporters on this site)  Yoshi's Island was an awesome game, the only thing that dropped it below 2D platforming perfection for me was Mario's really annoying crying sound.

 

You said Yoshi's Story is your post with the scores.  I think you meant to say Yoshi's Island.
