For the short time it was available i wouldn't say the Dreamcast was overrated.
At least the Dreamcast library is remembered for its great first party games.
Unlike some consoles in the past that depended heavily on the support of 3rd parties. |
I agree- the Xbox was pretty dependent on third party support (and so is the 360). But I'm surprised to see a Microsoft fan admit it.

Im glad you said that Kantor, now i can name the origional no game in it's library moneyahtting 3rd party support merchants as sony's ps1 and ps2.
Cheers.

Sony was new to gaming back in 1995. Microsoft has been in the business for 8 years, making this the equivalent of 2003. Sony had a pretty strong first/second party in 2003- Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Guerilla (though they weren't the best developers back then), Sucker Punch, Team ICO, Polyphony Digital, and quite a few more.
Microsoft, meanwhile, has Lionhead, Rare, and Turn 10.
I must say that Sega were excellent developers, and still are, but they made the mistake of being subpar, even if it was only for one generation. That one generation is enough for a small company like Sega to get half destroyed.

@Kantor.
So money talks and talent walks.
Most of Sega's top talent has left now, but at their prime Sega were second to none.
And thanks for clarifying that it was sonys money that got them to where they are (buying development studios)
