Well, Valkyria isn't a RPG where you have to grind like in DQ8, FFX, or ToS. In fact, it really is just a strategy game that people like to call a SRPG.
Anyways, if you need action, I would suggest a SHMUP, like 1942 - http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=24531®ion=All - I liked the demo, but I haven't bought it yet.
If you had a DS or Wii I could help you out a lot more, as I've only played a few PS3 games.
