The reason game companies can afford to sell former best selling titles for $20/$30 is because they already have made back their money on the first million sold at full price.  And after selling so many copies, those games need to compete with themselves on the used market.  None of the publishers, developers, etc. make any money off second hand sales.  (I'm not crying a river for them, just stating a fact.)

While some people may pick up more games, I believe those people would be in the minority.  No matter if a game is $20 or $50, there's still only 24 hours in a day.  And we all have a lot of things to do.

There are a lot more variables to pricing, but I don't have the time to get into them now.  Just keep in mind that with ever increasing development costs its going to be less likely that you're going to see as many cheaper games this upcoming generation.

@Gamecraze - EB/GameStop makes most of their money on used games not new ones.



Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
