Yoshio Sakamoto from Nintendo (director of Metroid on NES and Super Metroid on SNES) is directly involved with this game.
It does look like it is more cinematic and has more flash though ... but really ... what's so bad about that? The franchise needs to evolve, Super Mario 3 didn't have Mario running on 3D spheres in outer space sucking up star bits and triple jumping around ... franchises need to keep evolving.
