Bugrimmar you don't have a handle on the salary issue at all. Boxers get paid more they are free lance more or less. They can negotiate their pay for each fight. UFC fighters are more like other professional athletes because they are under a specific contract. It part of the reason boxing is in decline. The fighters are essentially mercenaries. MMA title holders can't duck opponents like boxers can. Outside of Fedor in the Heavyweight division. The UFC has just about all of the top talent in each divison. Instead of a champion that may fight someone worthy once a year ala boxing. A MMA title holder fights basically once per quarter, barring injury of course.
Even when a boxer wants to fight the best fighters, their is usually an inordinate amount of red tape to get through. Or the opponent can just flat out duck him. Before his brother unretired Wladimir Klitschko was trying to unify the Heavy Title but between Bob Arum, Don King, and the sanctioning bodies that was made impossible.
No disrespect to Marquez, he's been a top fighter for some time now, but Pacquiao and Mayrunner..er Mayweather should be the next big fight in boxing.
