@ZenfoldorVGI,

A. There is such a thing like ENTRY price, and you definitely misleaded, if you think that ALL customers know, about that value thing. Especially parrents, which buy 199$ x360 Arcade.
By Knowing the value of x360 and PS3, they would stop buying x360 at all, because PS3 is MUCH better value for those additional 100$ difference between x360 60Gb Pro model and 80Gb PS3 model.

B. But x360 Arcade is still cheaper, than Wii. And you again forgetting an ENTRY price. And even x360 Pro model already reached mass market price.

C. As you can see from a graph on 1st page, after Killzone 2 release, x360 is struggling to outsell PS3 weekly by more than 5-10k. Ae you ignoring 140 mln. PS2 userbase??? Which are just waiting to play b3yond at 299$? You again ignoring, that x360 selling for MUCH lower price, than PS3? Yes, PS3 has a BETTER value, BUT as a gaming machine it`s 199$ vs 399$.

D. Those numbers are in STATISTICAL error margin. I thought you would be intelligent enough to know that. Both consoles are selling on PAR. And yes, NA is the strongest market for x360, just like Japan and Europe for PS3, BUT come on LOOK AT THE ENTRY PRICE DIFFERENCE.

E. Those estimates, which are showing, that x360 is bareally by 5-10k ahead on weekly basis(AND NOT ALWAYS), can change anytime, especially, considering pretty big difference between PS3 shipments and VGC estimates.

F. Are you BLIND? 199$ costing console manages to oustell 399$. Are you in DENIAL??? 299$ costing PS3 will just destroy x360.
Moreover, PS2 was able to outsell xbox on it`s 4th year, even with same price as xbox, while x360, which selling for 2x times LESS entry price, than PS3 is struggling to outsell PS3 WW.

Also, 299$ costing PS3 this Christmas will DESTROY x360, no matter, how PS3 gets to that price, will that be 2x 50$ or 1x 100$.
And PS3 doesn`t need saving, IT doing OK at it`s ENTRY price. It`s x360, who is doing BAD.

I didn't "misleaded" anyone. Entry level price is 199. PS3 won't reach that anytime soon. As for the "value" thing, it's a talking point. I was just mentioning it, because I knew you would take it seriously. I, personally, don't.

The 360 arcade, according to MS, isn' the top selling sku. However, price isn't nearly as important as BRAND. Because if it was, the Gamecube would have destroyed the PS2, and the 360 would destory the PS3. Neither happened. The PS3s sales are largely due to the currently poor Playstation BRAND. The console needs a redesign, and a reintroduction to AMERICA. You think the PS3 will be a success this gen, based on its current performance?

Also, the PS3 isn't a "gaming machine" at 399. It is a multimedia device. You hpay 199 for the blu-ray player, by itself, if you want it or not. Over half of the consoles price is due to its multimedia functionality, which was completely unnecessary for gaming(we have hard-drives now crazzy, and can install our games, space isn't an issue, in fact, many games don't even use Blu-Ray, instead opting to require you to install them to the HD for better/quicker gameplay)

As for Killzone 2, that game wasn't a hardware mover. Aren't both consoles selling poorly? Are they down year over year?

As for the numbers you presented, you presented them, not me. It is not my job to determine their margin for error. You should have mentioned that in your OP if you didn't want me correcting your incorrect statements.

The PS3 needs a price cut. While 10k might not seem that big to you, in reality, that is 10 percent, and in business, 10 percent is pretty big. If PS3 sales increased 10 percent, it would match the 360. Then you might have a point.

299 PS3 will sell more than the 360, for a while. That is what a price cut does. Just like the 199 360 "destroyed" the PS3. Consoles can make comebacks. Things change. If they didn't, the PS3 would be finished. Thing is, right now, the 199 360 is real, the 299 PS3 is theory. That said, I doubt a 299 PS3 will be the epic storm of PS3 sales you think it will(in the long term). They could eventually end up in second place with a price cut soon, but they are cutting that possibility close. Bar is sat rather low, no?

Your argument is simplistic. Price is not the only, or the most important factor in videogame sales. The PS3 taught us that. The reason price is so important to the PS3 is three fold.

A. It has a "too expensive" stigma over its brand.

B. The economy has people scared to spend money.

C. The console costs too much for the mass market in general.

I'm not saying that a price cut isn't welcome. In fact, it is needed. It is 8 MILLION units behind a failure ridden second place console. A price cut is ABSOLUTELY NEEDED.

However, no price cut will "destory the 360." That is an ignorant and simplistic statement with a completely flawed logic. I don't know if you realized that or not.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
