In Japan all the stuff that's "light" is in the front of the store. All of the stuff that's darker is in the back of the store or upstairs. Lighter coloured products are thought to appeal to women and in Japan women typically make the decisions on what to buy for the household. When couples go out shopping the only way a guy gets to go into a store is if there is something out front that the woman wants to go into the store to look at. That's why the Wii is white.
