Becuase its Zelda who has a long standing connection with the events that happen in the games and that she's one the heirs (did i spell that right?) to her fathers throne who also has connections with the races across hyrule like the zoras, gorons etc under his familys name. link is just the *Hero* that ties all the loose ends.
