Quite simply, Sony can now profit from PS3, so it is time to turn the marketing up.

If PS3 had sold Wii like numbers from the start, it would have taken down the whole corperation. Sony had to play it just right, to were they got the userbase they needed, and saved blu-ray, all while not taking to big of a hit on PS3 losses. Now they are in a position were they can go to the consumers and show them what the PS3 is capable of without the fear of loosing billions.

so you are saying Sony planned to start sluggish when they released PS3 and have about 20% of the market then planned to have a comeback to have more market share when they can afford to make a profit on the hardware.

I'm glad everything in the business world is going according to all corporate planning.

I don't think this was the plan all along. Were Sony got into trouble is when Ken Kuturagi went to far with the PS3's design. By the time they realized what he had done, all they could do was work through the mess. Personally I think they still put them selves in an even bigger whole from that point. I would have just thrown an extra 512MB of RAM into the system, and charged $999 for it at launch. This would have allowed them to have the most powerful system on the market without question, and they could have took at lot of money to market why it was so expensive since they would be selling at a profit. Instead the route they took made it so they were going to be in a hole with no way out. PS3 launched with crapy to zero promotion, and it was all down hill from there. Until now that is.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
