only if the cost of the fabs decrease. however PPC based chips have a long history of having trouble with reliability for a while out of fab shrinks and core speed changes, so sony may not reap the benefits for a while with a high bad wafer count in the beginning. was always one of the big sticking points when apple used PPC chips.
outside of that it should reduce some cost, but remember sony sold the right to the production facilities, and we do not know how that altered the cost to produce each unit since they have to pay others to make them now.
but yes in basic principle it should help a bit
