Congrats on buying a PS3!
LittleBigPlanet is excellent. It may look odd, but it's the most fun I've had with a game in a LONG time. Review in my sig.
Resistance 2 is pretty good. It didn't get average reviews at all. The metascore is at 87, and GameSpot, IGN and EuroGamer all gave it above 9 (it doesn't deserve that). There's a review of it in my sig.
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction is also an awesome game.
