Yeah, Wii had a huge week last year in America (a 73% boost from the week before) and I have no idea why. 
But the lack of big hardware pushers is really evident now that both Brawl and Mario Kart Wii have been released in 2/3 regions (Brawl is missing in Others and MKWii is missing in the Americas). The week of May 3 will probably be even worse, seeing as that's the week in which MKWii released in the Americas.
Time will tell...
