Well the GC didn't really have online play, right? Are you sure the PS2 was fleshed out and worked like the Dreamcast? I've heard the argument before that the Dreamcast was so amazing because of it's online which was way before its time and that the PS2 didn't have it.

The GC had Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1 and 2. There were very few other games that had online play.
