The PS3 does have a chance to outsell the 360 this year. I doubt it will happen but there is always a chance.
This is the "down time" for console sales. So a few weeks here and there of winning in Japan really will not have much of an effect on overall yearly sales. The last 3 months of the year is what really matters. Don't forget, the PS3 was ahead of the 360 for most of last year and then came Christmas and the price cut.
