MHG did great first day numbers. Ignore the whining Sony fans - 92k first day is a great performance.

Killzone 2 did solid first day numbers too.

I'm a Sony fan but also a Nintendo fan.

@Darc Requiem

Hardware sales say otherwise. Nintendo has to pull the facts together, meaning to the rest of the world as well, because besides the Wii Resort there's nothing new being released from their side. Nice and all that the Wii is still selling, but the ones owning the darn thing, want games. Best games are still coming from 3rd party devs.

I expect some good stuff for this year. However, 2010 will be THE year of big 1st party games. The only reason they haven't released anything significant in a while is because they released most of that stuff earlier in the Wii's life and now they're working on new installments. In 2010 I see...

-Zelda Wii
-Pikmin 3 (could be in 2009 though, you never know)
-New Monolith Soft games (RPGs and other genre games)
-New Paper Mario
-Mario Party 9

...At the very least. They can release other stuff too.

Anyway, I sense the FEAR in this thread :P

8 months to go..Good luck!

8 months? No not really. They're gonna have stuff this year, just the bulk is next year.

Just eye balling what they have left, the Wii's 2nd half 2009 could look like this in Japan:

Wii Sports Resort

Monster Hunter 3

Final Fantasy: Crystal Bearers

Wii Fit Plus (?)

Tales of Graces

Samurai Warriors 3

Pikmin 3 (?)

Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics

They actually have some third party support in Japan for the first time in ages coming up.

Zelda I seriously doubt is happening this year and even if it is, that's really not that big of a franchise in Japan. There's always a chance Mario Party 9 drops this year, but looking at the above list, I think maybe Mario Party DS 2 is more likely this year and Mario Party 9 next year.
