If I had known it was going to annoy me, I wouldn't have clicked the thread. But it did, so I said so. Usually I manage to stay away from those types of threads. My point was not that the game was overhyped. The point was that the article failed to produce any sort of gameplay argument that would warrant me getting excited over it, since I didn't like the first two. And whatever you might think, I WANT to like the God of War games. Hell, I bought the first two. Considering how seldom I buy games, that's saying something. And I really do think that graphicly perfect disembowelment is a very immature selling point, and taken out of the God of War context, so would most people, I assume. |
The article would have appealed to anybody who really enjoyed the God of War games. Somebody like me, or Makingmusic. People like you and MaxwellGT, who like the games, but don't think they're brilliant, wouldn't get excited at all over that article.
I mentioned on the first page that I would buy God of War III if it was God of War II with Titans, Olympus and HD graphics. Anything else is a bonus. Those six things in the article are all bonuses. God of War III isn't going to appeal to anyone who didn't like God of War and GoWII, and it really shouldn't. It'll appeal to some people, and not to others.
Also, about the disembowellment, notice how I made a whole list of good things about the games and didn't mention the gore once. It's a selling point, because it's a hack and slash, and a hack and slash is meant to be violent and gory. In fact, I felt that one of the downsides of Ninja Gaiden was that it wasn't gory enough. I'm not a sadist or anything, it's just how a game in that genre should be.
And as for Galaki and "vice versa", the reason I didn't explain it immediately is that I didn't want to come across as being a grammar Nazi. I just pointed out that it was incorrect, and then explained the correct meaning when he asked me to.
