I agree! travelling around to all the different islands could be cool and they could change the gameplay up a fair bit too within the swimming/sailing/riding on the back of sea pokemon sections.
Pokemon isn't my thing anymore so I don't know how much the gameplay has changed overall but I doubt it would be much more than more pokemon, more multiplayer features and different places to go explore.
