Actually, the Creepy Steeple area is great for leveling up when you're at the end of the game. Amazy Dayzees are great ways to rack up the experience when you're at higher levels. You just have to figure out how to beat it in one turn (It'll run away from battle more often than not).
My way of doing things was to use Mario's Spring Jump attack (with some Power Plus badges for extra oomph) and then use Goombella's Rally Wink to give Mario an extra turn and make sure the Amazy Dayzee is done for.
