| shams said: @davygee: keep the figures in context please ;) The current WW sales figures are PSP 23.4m (31.7%) : DS 50.3 (68.3%). If the PSP sells another 10% worldwide (thanks to the slim), and the DS doesn't sell another unit - it becomes 25.4m:50.3m. The market share becomes 33.5%. Not a bad improvement, but it doesn't exactly set the world alight either. The challenge for the PSP is to reach (and hold) 40% WW marketshare. |
I just think that the release of the PSP Slim as well as a few big titles are helping the PSP overall. There is no way back after the phenomenum that is the DS and I would be very surprised if the PSP can manage to claw back some ground "marketshare-wise". The DS is so far out in front and will only go from strength to strength, but I still see the PSP managing to clock up in excess of 30m units worldwide within the next 6-12 months, which isn't very easy considering it's a handheld and is primarily playing against the DS.
I also still think that the PSP has a good 2-3 years at least of a lifecycle.
