RETAIL BIZ: Out This Week
Every demographic is catered for this week by the latest batch of new releases to hit retail – while Xbox 360, PS3 and PC gamers get to build and maintain a criminal empire, Wii and DS owners are treated to the complete band experience.
EA releases the sequel to 2006’s The Godfather, which stretches beyond the streets of New York and challenges players to corrupt and control multiple cities across the States – a job made easier with the new Don’s View mode.
Disney’s Ultimate Band, on the other hand, focuses on family fun, allowing Wii and DS owners to rock out on guitar and drums without the need for expensive peripherals. Made to be as accessible as possible, this is certain appeal to non-gamers intimidated by the likes of Guitar Hero.
Other notable releases this week include the initial wave of Diva Girls titles (505 Games), Company Of Heroes: Tales Of Valor (THQ) and the latest entries in the Mind Your Language series (PlayV).

The only new entry in the Top 40 All Formats Chart comes in at No2 with EA’s ‘The Godfather II’. ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ races up the chart from No9 to No3. Capcom’s ‘Resident Evil 5’ drops 2 places to No4 and EA’s ‘FIFA also drops 2 places to No5. Activision Blizzard’s ‘Call of Duty: World at War’ shuffles down a place to No6. Nintendo’s second of four Top 10 titles ‘Professor Layton and the Curious Village’ is also a non-mover at No7, followed by ‘Wii Play’ at No8 and ‘Mario Kart Wii’ at No9. Capcom’s ‘Streetfighter IV’ rounds off the Top 10 after dropping 4 places.
