It actually probably could have sold more on the PS2 seeing how the recent PS2 releases have been doing.

But they decided not to release it on the PS2...since it's a last gen system. Wouldn't have sold a whole lot more though, Odin Sphere had a 58k opening. It's a difference but it wouldn't make/break the game.
