No, he did need to say this. Kotaku and other lolsites were using him as a fanboy mouthpiece to further their pettiness by using his words out of context. If he didn't, he'd still be their meatshield.

That's why I said for the people that actually read the interview.

Besides, sites with their agendas still are going to get those agendas across.
