Downloads are going to take over the home video market, just not yet. Following Moore's Law, average download times will be cut in half every 24 months (through faster connections and more efficient codecs) and eventually reach acceptable areas even for HD content.
BD and HDDVD may have a decade or so to shine, but then again people may stick with regular DVDs for quite some time, and HD discs will be squeezed out.
What I really find hilarious is that Sony fans have to talk up BD movies just to make the PS3 look better. How is that related to video games?
