Wii Fit should sell well but I'm wondering if people may be putting too many expectations into it expanding the Wii audience.

For starters some of the feedback from people who've tried it is that the Yoga and the other fitness parts seem like a chore (not fun) but the game aspects of it are fun. That means that it's unlikely that Good Morning America or Oprah or all the other shows and popular media that played up Wii Sports are likely going to be playing up the fitness parts of Wii Fit if it's not fun.

Also it's highly unlikely that Yoga and the other exercise parts of Wii Fitness will lend themselves well to being party games, so that leaves games like "hitting oncoming soccer balls" at parties attracting basically the same audience that bought Wii Play. It would have to do more to attract new customers since the price of admission for Wii Fitness is the Wii + Balance Board + Wii Fit taking it beyond the mass market price point that casuals love so much . It seems hard for me to believe that dodging a ball or using a hula hoop will be enough to make non-Wii owners run out to spend that much money (at least in significantly large numbers).

People are also playing up the health benefits of it but what happens if it fails to deliver? Actually I should say when because I go to a gym and I know getting into shape is far more than simply stepping onto a balance board or doing "core motions" as Nintendo is calling it. So the health angle will quickly evaporate in the span of a few months at most (in my opinion). I mean why would someone use it rather than a treadmill in which they can watch their favorite tv show while getting into shape?

Anyways those are some of my opinions about Wii Fit...  Of course I could be completely wrong, I never dreamed Wii Sports would become as big as it is and sell consoles as fast as it did.
