If you're playing offline only, PS2 is the only sensible choice. 360 fanboys may try to claim that the 360's library is as good as the PS2's. It isn't. It's not even close. Pretty much no console is anywhere near it, except maybe the N64.
Ask somebody to name some great 360 games, you'll get a LOT of shooters, some racing, and some RPG. Ask somebody to name some great PS2 games, you'll get everything.
