So this screen was shown during Nintendo's GDC presentation

Anyone know what it's referring to?

If I recall correctly, it's about Nintendo's pressure to release first party software. People want them to make more games at a faster rate because they are raking in money. Their games would get made quicker, and due to that the quality of the games suffer. And because of that, there will be poor sales of the game.

I think it makes perfect sense. I'd rather have 1 Mario platformer to be released every 5 years that's amazing then 3 crappy ones that get released in the same time frame.

Close, but not quite. The graph doesn't just refer to Nintendo, it refers to all developers, and basically says that when you stop polishing your titles and start rushing them, you often enter the Death Spiral where your game doesn't do well financially (because it's crappy), so you have to rush your next game to keep the lights on, which creates a crappier product, which...

Nintendo's point to developers was simple: no matter how incredibly tempting it might be to rush a product to make some money NOW, don't do it: you'll stand or fall based on the quality of your offerings, so take the time to do it right, or you'll hamstring yourself in the long run.
