Edge online had an article where Wedbush Morgan said that 80% of DS owners are 8-16. Not sure I believe that, as I've never seen a kid or a teenager play Brain Training or some of the other 10m+ hits. But who really knows? Say it is true:
DS will be over 100m when GTA: China Town Wars releases. The reviews have been good.
Say there are only 20m people on DS interested in a GTA. When GTA IV launched on PS3 + Xbox 360 the user base of those systems was only ~30.5m.
PS3 & 360 now have a base of ~50.5m and GTAIV has sold 12m+ copies.
GTA DS will probably have a strong, but not spectacular debut, followed by long legs (maybe ~10-15k/week for a year or two?)
I don't think its impossible for it to do 3m or 4m on DS, but I'd probably put it around 2.5m in total, and maybe a 350k debut week worldwide.
