What is this whole "Considering its userbase" argument? Seems pretty "base"less to me. What games for NES, SNES, PS1 or 2 or 3 for that matter ever sold to 50% of the userbase? Scratch that question. Since when has selling a million not quite good enough anymore? Oh, ok, since a Wii game that every fanboy called a flop and used as an example of Wii's "lack of hardcore" appeal, went platinum. Give that tired argument a much needed rest.
What the Wii's userbase does show, is that variety is key. It shows that you'll have a greater chance at providing a profit on that platform than any other home console, given its size. Those who want to try and dismiss or trivialize this accomplishment will only look pathetic in doing so.
on top of that, some folks are even going to argue against the statements of the company who made the game and credited this game as helping with their profit margins by selling more than they had anticipated. Unreal.
Rol had a thread in which he tackled the idea of Nintendo's strong first party efforts being used as some sort of negative thing. This is the same argument being used now. I will say right here and stand by this, the "third party not selling on Wii" is complete and utter bull shit. Coined by the same phantoms who in the past said that SNES was a kiddy console.
So can we now eliminate this game from the infamous "Wii flop list"?
Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:
If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.
If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
