I think you forget that Japan is a little bit different than the rest of the world. Since both consoles have horrendous sellthrough vs. the Wii, there's a much higher likelihood that gamers own both a X360 and a PS3 vs. the West (where it's less than 10%). Having said this, most multiplat games are heavily skewed toward the PS3. One must also remember that ported games from the X360>PS3 and vice versa have horrible sales as well, which would indicate that if there's exclusivity on any one game, gamers typically pick it up for console #1. A few examples on sellthrough ratios (from Famitsu):
As you can see, many games are heavily skewed toward the PS3. Especially the higher up on the list. Titles that were major IPs for the PS2, and sold above 300,000 on the PS3 have been typically skewed heavily toward the PS3 more than middle-tier releases, such as a Call of Duty, or Grand Theft Auto. A 5:1 ratio in favor of the PS3 is within the realm of typical data, and is in fact, somewhat lower than normal, given how large the game is (since it's first week may be larger than any multi-plat LTD thus far in Japan). |
I don't know where you have taken your number from famitsu, but they are not the most recent you can find. Here the most recent you can find:
