Well, there is hardly that much hating on the Wii any more.
But to take you seriously, I will say this: Yes, it is the Wiis fault.
In short, the Wii was designed to cater to a different audience than its predecessor, and also the competition of this generation.
Game makers found that this new audience buys many games of a genre loathed by many a 'core' gamer, so naturally, more games of this genre started being made.
This was of course to much dismay of the 'core' gamers, and this new control method coupled with the new found popularity of this genre of games, made the Wii an object of much hating and loathing amongst many irrational and shortsighted gamers for a long time.
Nintendo creating games like Wii Fit and Wii Music certainly didn't appease these gamers either.
