It depends, when i played mario kart wii on my dads new 42" sanyo 1080p LCD HDTV (just once cause he placed it in the living room) it looked good to me. sherbert land looked stunning even at 480p imo (cause of the gloss of the ice)
I really dont know the difference between 480p on a big or small hdtv but i know this...theres no flickering, wavey llines or *bleeding*.
