It's all about the games. It's always been about the games, and it will always be about the games. This generation of consoles is no different.
As for me, in my two years and some odd months of owning the Wii, I own more games (29 disc games plus 11 VC/WW games) than I've owned for any previous console (27 GCN games, 27 N64 games, and 18 Genesis games). And I'm definitely having a whole bunch of fun playing them, which is what matters in the first place.
So yeah, winning isn't everything, having fun with your console definitely is. And having fun doesn't rely much on whether your console is in 1st place or 3rd.
