| Sullla said: Umm, I don't know where these claims of Killzone moving 70-80k PS3 consoles are coming from. Let's look at this by region: Week of February 21 (the week before Killzone launch) We seem to be exactly back where we were two weeks ago, with no discernible change in Others sales. Of course it's possible we'll see something this week in America, but that remains to be decided. Obviously we leave Japan out of this, because Killzone has not been released in Japan as yet, and trying to credit the Yakuza boost to Killzone would be inappropriate. So the number of hardware units moved by Killzone over the previous weekly average easily works out to: 169k - 139k = 30k PS3s (one week boost of 20%) I leave it up to the individual posters to react to that as they may. PS Errr, the PS3 absolutely received a European price cut in November 2007. Go look it up if you don't believe me. And if you're going to play the "PS3 has only had one price cut!" card, you might want to mention that a $500 PS3 at launch had a lot more features included in it (most notably PS2 backwards compatibility) than the current $500 PS3 does. |
I hope this doesn't hurt too much.
From last week.
It sold more than you think in the US. Maybe not a HUGE amount but definitely several thousand more at least.
I posted this in another thread and I am pretty sure someone posted it here.
If your not implying that then you would have to assume the Killzone 2 boost was actually more than just 13k.
Thanks to Smeags for the charts.

I know it is not 13k, it is 11,285, but that is the number the person I was responding to used in that other thread. He was talking about WW. Which I still think wasn't 13k but whatever.
Also if I am not mistaken, didn't sales drop across the board for the other consoles in Europe+Others as well?
It is pretty easy to figure out really.
It is one of two choices.
#1. PS3 was the only console that would have not dropped in sales over the 2 territories that week.
If you don't agree with that, which you shouldn't, lol.
#2. KZ2 boost was bigger than people give credit for.
These numbers were figured out assuming PS3 WoW sales would have ONLY dropped by half of what 360 dropped by had KZ2 not been released that week.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
