You can just do skirmishes and make your characters stronger. I'm sure you can figure it out without too much of a problem. 7 was the toughest for me.

 

 

Chapter 7 was a pain for me as well until I figured out I could just run around them all with Alicia and use my handy dandy grenade launcher to knock the troops out of the fort and then take it over.

I may have my chapters mixed up. Also, I didn't have a grenade launcher til much much later in the game. In fact, I ended around level 15 when I beat the game.
