There wasn't enough "racing" from my point of view, it looked like evey 5 seconds some stupid giant soccer ball got in the way. Thats how i interpreted it.

 

Where is F Zero?

um....you saw a trailer from several different races.  They wanted to showcase the variety of the stunts that you will perform.  Take a look back at many of the trailers from ExciteTruck and you will constantly see the ground being "deformed"...even though that was just a minor aspect of the gameplay.  And you might want to adjust your idea of mini-games.  All these soccer balls and bowling pins are in the race.  That, by definition, is not mini-game, but in-game.
