Japan is a small market nowadays and insignificant for the console wars.

In 2008 the combined sales of Wii, PS3 and X360 were 46.4 million worldwide.

But only 4.14 million of those were in Japan.

That's only 8.9% of total sales.

Yeah, you say Japan is a small market now. Wait til the Sony JRPG fans start talking about JRPG sales. They rely mentally upon Japan and you know it.

It's still a small market. The reasons JRPG fans start talking about the sales in Japan is because Sony hasn't released that many JRPG's. None of their "exclusives" have hit the US yet. VC and Disgaea are both still considered just strategy rpg's.

Japan has always been one of the big three (which means it's large enough). This means they are still a focal point of consumption (See Wii sales as well). JRPG's are Japanese oriented RPG's. The Japanese devs need to evaluate where JRPG's are going if they want to hold the attention of JRPG fans in Japan. Nintendo is really doing a number over there. Capcom and Namco are also doing a number in the arcades.

What are you talking about? Wii RPG Sales haven't done shit either.

The only systems that sell RPG's are PSP and DS.

That's because only the PSP and DS sell well in Japan, nowadays.
