I would have to say that's impossible. Assuming a very optimistic weekly sales average of 20,000 a week, and static PS3 sales, the 360 would take nearly two years to overtake the PS3 in Japan.
Sony is just far too popular in Japan for Microsoft to be able to do that. The PS3 still has Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Yakuza and Metal Gear Solid as exclusives in Japan, while Microsoft has some second-rate Square Enix JRPGs and Star Ocean.
Meanwhile, the Wii has Dragon Quest. And Wii Fit.
But absolutely nothing Microsoft can do would make the 360 overtake the PS3 in Japan.

Don't be naive and say that it's impossible for MS to beat Sony in Japan. Anything can happen.. while people manipulate their future by weilding free will. Karma is a hell of a thing. It can cause you to kick yourself in the ass so hard that you fell and wondered how ended up face down on the floor and wondered why? |
It can happen in the same way that Resident Evil 5 can cross 10 million, the PS3 can beat the Wii in weekly sales next week, and Nintendo can announce that they are buying Sega.
