To begin my answer, another question: has "holy crap" ever been said with the meaning "this is crap"? I don't believe it ever has in my presence.
"Holy crap" has always been, to me, an expression of great surprise or of being impressed: I was greatly surprised by what I beheld in the video. (And yes, it seems like a really good idea, although I wonder, as does wfz, if the concept is biting off more than it can chew.)
