Nintendo's consoles have always been if not the most powerful of the generation then they always held themselves up. The Gamecube was by far the best console of last generation technically (being much smaller than the Xbox yet about as powerful. Nintendo has a lot of money, a good relationship with IBM and some very talented engineers, they could easily have made a console that was as powerful as the PS3/360. But then it would be just as expensive, and wouldn't have anything to distinguish itself from the others. It would have most likely been a Gamecube level failure. Nintendo didn't make a less powerful console because they couldn't compete with Sony/MS. They made a less powerful console to keep costs down both for the consumers and (more importantly) for the developers. |
Its not that they couldnt, they could have but they would have had to charge more. And IBM wasnt going to hand Nintendo the Cell processor to work with. lol
