Just teasing. Yes, many games, including all of Nintendo's require you to know someone's Friend Code to play. However, some third-parties have skipped this requirement. Fortunately, you only have to enter the code once.
Online co-op is, unfortunately, somewhat limited. Even worse, the voice chat only came out a few months ago, so most of the games I'm about to list that have online co-op are missing it. Ironically, a common work-around is to use Live while playing on the Wii...
Anyhow, to the best of my knowledge the list consists of:
Battalion Wars 2 (fun, but not spectacular, RTS)
Endless Ocean (less a game than a relaxation device, and I mean that in a good way)
The Guitar Hero/Rock Band games
Mario Strikers (Soccer game)
Monster Hunter 3 (not yet released, obviously)
Top Spin 3 (Tennis)
Onslaught (surprisingly competent Wiiware FPS)
Medal of Honor/Call of Duty (Team-play counts as "co-op", right?)
There might be one or two more, but those are the ones I know of off the top of my head.
(Play Ogre Battle!)
If you want, I can also expand beyond the genres you've mentioned, and into some of my favorite Wii/GC/VC/WW games. Let me know!
