Is there any way a government can give out cash/credit that HAS to be spent on consumption, rather than saving/paying debt?
I think that it's fascinating how the US got into this mess because of irresponsible spending, and the Japanese and Germans are suffering because of paranoid saving.
This all ties into the fact that despite rising profits around the world after the economy rebounded from 9/11, the wages of the average workers didn't go up, hence people not spending as much/relying on credit to spend.
Fuck Aso though, the sooner he gets out of office, the sooner Japan can actually get some work done. As far as I know though here in America, he's a lame duck.
